What the site is
Local After School is an independent guide to after school care and activities in the United States. It is free to use and needs no account. We are not a child care provider, agency or booking service, and we are not affiliated with any program listed, any state licensing agency or any school district.
How to use the information
- Listings come from public records, such as state licensing data and OpenStreetMap, plus details submitted by programs. Records can be incomplete or out of date. Each listing shows its source and the date we last checked it.
- Check before you decide. Confirm hours, prices, ages, availability, pickup arrangements and licensing directly with the program, and with the state's own provider search for licensed care.
- A listing is not an endorsement. Including a program, ranking it or calling it one of the "best" in an area is based on the published criteria in how we list programs, not a recommendation that it is right or safe for your child.
- Nothing here is professional advice. Our guides are general information, not legal, medical or child care advice. Choosing care and supervising children remain the responsibility of parents and guardians.
Rankings and payment
No program can pay to appear, rank higher or remove accurate information. If we ever show paid placements or affiliate links, they will be clearly labeled. See our editorial policy.
Programs and listings
If you run a program, you can ask us to add, correct or update your listing through add or correct a program. We may need to verify that you represent the program. We decide what to publish and may decline, edit or remove submissions. Information drawn from public records, such as a license status or inspection history, will not be removed just because a program disagrees with it, but we will correct genuine errors.
Reviews and other submissions
If you send us a review, correction or other content, you confirm it is honest, based on your own experience and doesn't break anyone's rights or the law. You give us permission to publish, edit for length and clarity, and display it on the site. We don't publish reviews written by a program's owners or staff, paid reviews, or reviews that identify children. We may remove any submission at any time.
Acceptable use
Please don't use the site to harass anyone, submit false or misleading information, impersonate a program, or interfere with the site's operation, including by overloading it with automated requests.
Content and data
The site's design, writing and guides are owned by Local After School. You may quote and link to them with credit. Map data and some listing data are © OpenStreetMap contributors and available under the Open Database License; see data sources for the licenses that apply to each source.
Links and maps
The site links to program websites, map services and government sites we don't control. We aren't responsible for their content, availability or privacy practices.
No warranty
The site is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent allowed by law, we make no warranties about its accuracy, completeness or availability, and we aren't liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the site or your dealings with any program listed on it.
Changes
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed, and continued use of the site means you accept the current version.
