About Local After School
Local After School is an independent directory that helps parents find after school care and activities near them. We cover both kinds of program in one place: supervised care that runs from the school bell until pickup, and enrichment such as sports, coding, tutoring, music and art.
What makes it different
- Built from public records. Care listings come from state licensing data, school district and state education department program lists. Activity listings come from OpenStreetMap. See data sources.
- Licensing up front. Each care listing shows whether the program is state licensed, run by a school or legally exempt, and links to its official inspection record.
- No pay-to-rank. Our "best" lists use a published score based only on public records. Programs can't pay to change their position. See how we rank.
How we're funded
We may sell clearly labelled featured placements to programs in future. Featured placements will always be marked "Sponsored" and will never affect rankings or which programs appear.
Who writes it
The site is run by the Local After School Team. Our guides follow our editorial policy: every fact is sourced, and pages are reviewed when the underlying rules or data change.
