The rules in Florida

  • School-age child care programs in Florida must be licensed by DCF (or the county licensing agency in counties that run their own) unless they qualify for an exemption.
  • Programs run on a school site by the school or school district, serving only that school's own students, can be exempt from licensing.
  • Programs that serve only children in grade 6 and above can also be exempt.
  • Licensed programs are inspected, and DCF publishes each provider's recent inspection history in its public provider search.
